New Kid in Town

So, as planned, today I went to see her and… had to bring her home.
With the sole exception of the cleaning rod, the rifle is all matching.
Great overall conditions, very good bore (cleaned it after the first picture), probably reblued (I can’t say that yet, need to take her down first).
Decent trigger. Heavy as most military ones, but other than that fairly crisp, with no creep.
Your opinions, gentlemen?

Really nice! I think the buttplate gives you a truer indication of its original condition before being reblued. All numbers matching is always a good thing!

Nice anyway, good bore. That's what I always look for because I want a shooter.

Yes. That’s why I think it was reblued. The job is great, though.

As you say, it looks like a reblue, but all matching apart from cleaning rod is still a great find these days, especially with a good bore.
However, as I alluded to in a previous post, I think the stock has been sanded, as the stock markings are very faint, and that 1937 stamp is not correct, and I suspect is a restamp from when it was reblued, by someone that didn't know what the acceptance stamps were. The stocks were not ever date stamped like that.
Hope it shoots as good as it looks (apart from that date stamp)

Yep. That 1937 was a tad stinky, but still I'm very satisfied with the general conditions of the rifle.
As soon as I'll be able to try it, I'll post the results.

Worth taking the butt plate off to see if there are any ink stamp marks on the end of the butt. Many had stock makers and date stamps in ink on the ends of the butt.

And, unless removed by numpty that sanded the stock when it was e-blued, if you take it apart, you should find the makers and date stamps inside the barrel channel of the stock.

I would have bought it in a heartbeat were it presented to me. Yes it's a reblue, the give away to me is the light pitting at the woodline by the rear sight. Once the rust was removed there would have been no bluing left there. No matter it looks like it will be an excellent shooter and that is what's important to me. Congratulations
