New Underwood

Just bought a new Underwood and thought I would share some photos I took. The finish is really immaculate and evenly matched over the entire carbine with all correct period parts. Barrel dated 3-44 and receiver dates to same period I believe. The bore and chamber are so immaculate that I doubt it has been fired in a very, very, long time. The gun store told me it came from a local collectors estate along with many other types of rifles and shotguns and all had the appearance of being kept stored away and not used.

Singer receiver too...nice carbine..only difference, mine is spring 1943, and alot more bucks it cost me, I bet? My stock has UEF/GHD only..Andy

The store is about an hour away so I called them and then drove down to look at it in person. It was much nicer than their photos showed and were willing to go ahead and sell it (yeah, I was able to get it cheaper than what you paid,but all that matters is if you are satisfied)
Both of ours are similar except for the dates. Mine has the small s on the base and .u. on the leaf of the flip sight...what about yours?

The same, and -U- on front sight base..yours is EU..later manufacture...I'm a stickler for high wood, except for that minty WRA I got recently..otherwise, I like type 1 or 2 stocks, flip sights, flat bolts, early features, more likely to have seen service in 1942-44, most likely the later carbines never made it to Normandy or Iwo Jima initially..

However...due to the Iwo Jima statue being made in the 1950's, Ira Hayes is depicted with a type 3 barrel band on the carbine he has...interesting when you show the veterans, who dont remember bayonets on carbines...in WW2..especially the USMC vets Ive met from the Canal, and Iwo..Andy

That rifle is PRISTINE!!! And RARE with the Singer mfg of receiver.....

I got a "B" Underwood, but nowhere near as nice as that!!

Color me GREEN!!!

My "B" code is a regular ol' rebuilt.
