Wild pigs for Ovidio
Just got back from checking the game cams and putting out about a ton of feed . I have two herds , one with young ones [ tasty ] , and a real big boar . The deer photo is just to show the big boars size as they are in about the same spot . Attachment 127266Attachment 127267Attachment 127268Attachment 127269

Nice and quiet supressed 300 BLK Out with subsonics will fit the bill nicely Ovidio. Either that or a compound bow with some Razor Broad heads........

A 300 BO subsonic lacks knockdown power , that big boar would just laugh at one . A 35 cal Carcano with 250 grain rn at 2250 fps on the other hand drops them where they stand and would get a couple with one shot if you lined them up right . My personal pig count is at 231 right now and I have shot them with about everything , so I do have some idea what works and how well . Most shots will be at 125 yards + and at night with the pigs moving around . So shot placement can be a bit of a problem , extra power does help . Any guesses on the weight of the big one ?

Most of the footage I've seen of shooters and bow hunters over a feeding area are shooting from less than 20 yards in a hide.
Keep feeding them till they get used to hides presence then whack'em one lot in Africa was taking wart hogs with a bow plus bigger critters like Zebra.
Years ago I shot a fairly good sized wild sow at 15 yards with my Savage 340 in 22 Hornet put the pill just at the front part of the ear where it meets the skull she went down without blinking.
After pondering what could have happened I went out and brought a 444 Marlin and had no qualms after that hunting pigs in bull rushes or thick scrub.
In fact that gun saved me from another sow protecting her young when I surprised them horsepower won the day!

The boar is a big boy! I would say 400-450 pounds. Definitely .30/06 material.

There are 6 different feeders to hunt . A 30/06 would be good for about anything . We will try and be more creative than that though . A few that we may try : .35 cal Carcano , scoped with a 250 - 275 grain bullet at 2250 fps . The AR-30 has the thermal . If brave enough we have the 500 Bandit , scoped , 50 cal 500 grain bullet at 2200 fps . For a smaller one for the smoker we have the .357 Diablo , scoped AR-15 , 180 at 2250 fps . Still wanting to get one with a Gew-88 , iron sight with a 226 rn original type load . A .308 long range rifle with a big scope for 400 yard + shots . A few handguns also : 500 S&W , 10mm Glock , 50 Desert Eagle , S&W 29 in 44 mag . There are a few spots where the range would be under 50 yards .

A 303 always works for pigs.

I loaded my 444 to the max with 41.8gns 4227 & 240Gn Hornady HPFB at 2400fps with 3070fpe it still had 1995fpe at 100yds which is a long shot in med to heavy scrub only draw back was recoil was a bit lively.
Load I was using is from Hornady Handbook Rifle/Pistol Vol II
