Santa Fe was a surplus dealer in California. No doubt they had a Japanese manufacturer produce the clip.
Pics!
The Santa Fe clips were made in the mid 60s for SF which had a large stock of Berthiers but no clips. Also made in M1916 5 rd model for SF.
Wasn't Santa Fe the surplus business that conjured up the term "Jungle Carbine" to add some sizzle to the sale of their No. 5s?
They created a "Jungle Carbine" as well by cutting down #4 rifles and cutting the woodwork back, cut the barrel to the lugs and made a pot metal FH that was held in place by a set screw. I took one in trade as a curio back in the end '70s. Found out what it was after. They were quite the imagination crew.
Thanks for the information
Jim
I understand these RSC Mle 1917 clips are valued between $100 to $150 US each

I wanted to post some photos of my friends early Mle 1917 French semi auto rifle. This rifle is in complete working order and chambers the 8mm Lebel cartridge. This rifle also requires a special five round clip. Some 86,000 wre manufactured during WW1 and a new Mle 1918 was developed using the stand five round clip but never replaced the MAttachment 129341Attachment 129342Attachment 129343Attachment 129344le 1917.
These rifles were in French Service though WW2, note this rifle has had the chamber modification for the 1932 cartridge and stamped with the N
