Nice top pic. You don't see too manty pics of the old M1.50 cal. Probably a "Colt" made gun too.

I think the .50 gunner is holding the end of a hooked tubular body support bracket that is fixed to the left side of the gun mount. It must be a posed photo anyway as the tommy gunner has not cocked his gun.
If they are on AA duty then the holes a bit crowded by one as you'd need a No.2 for the ammo can with a runner to keep up the supply, a full 50 cal can would not be a very light weight piece of kit to carry.
A nice picture though.
The GCA Journal printed a short article and photo that was clipped from Stars and Stripes in 1945... two GIs had used their M1s to actually shoot down a Messerschmidt that was strafing their position and was extremely low! Very neat.
