Birthday Girl

Finally got to say happy birthday to this one hundred year old.

Found a bit of spare range time(hard to come by lately) and took a couple of rifles for a quick workout.

I used to just take the year dated rifles for a birthday shoot, but at that rate I'd be long dead, so this year it was all the three's minus the '13 which got a run in January.

From the top....1923,1943 and 1953 all Lithgows of course

The 100 year old girl really surprised me, checking zero at 50yds the first shot was near centre,so I belted another 5 shots in.....bloody good.

Stretched her out to 100yds, still there, ran out of time with the other two, both needing a bit of sight adjustment, but they had a handfull of rounds each.

Minute of German acheived. My eyes are an issue at 100 yards now unfortunately. More and more I find myself intending to take an SMLE but picking up a rifle with a scope. My favourite is my No.4 in .223.

Is that 23 a range rifle. Havent seen a rear forend crossbolt like that one before.
50 yds good god man you could have hit the target with rocks in your younger days.

No Bindii, that forewood is one of the odd timbers they were playing with in the early twenties, We discussed it on here a few years ago.
The crossbolt has ASTAR stamps on the inner bezels and is larger than the No.1 crossbolts seen on most target configurations.

But 50 yds that is 22RF yardage trainer stuff not real ladies stuff.

I like to know they are on target before I stretch the barrels.
Electronic targets give funny results when you hit the timber or cables......not to mention the repair bill.

100 yds is a better choice to get rid of the wobbles. yes i repair and run Kongsbergs so know about things.
My gen 2 silver mountain is pretty good. I use a 300 aiming mark all the way back to 900 on a 4' square frame for F open practice.
Be happy to use my HTs etc on that frame.

Have'nt forgotten you Andrew, went hunting for the old post and pic's, think they may have been lost in the big wipeout.

I'm pretty sure it was Black Bean, my cabinet maker Uncle identified it and warned me about rashes from contact......remember reading that too.
I had/have? pic's of the A star on the end of the forewood, along with a smaller star on the R/H flat above the draws and what appeared to be BB .

I don't want to disturb the Bedding again, so it will become another to do job if and when it's stripped again.
