My 6m SA restore project.
Well after being out of milsurp game since 2015, I found a stripped early Winchester receiver project I started and forgot about since 2012. After bringing it back to life, it rekindled my love of the m1 rifle. Already had my 10/43 SA that I've had forever, and a 75-80% correct early Winchester I set out to obtain a HRA, IHC and a post war 6mil SA to round out basic restart to a lost collection.
After obtaining the other 3, I set out to fix what I can. The 6M was built as a standard rifle (numbers are not on any NM list) , but someone built/ tried to build into a sloppy NM. So with help from Deb Mann, began the task of restoring to as built.
Here's how looked prior, and parts breakdown

The Buttstock has gone through at least 2 , maybe more, rebuilds No Cartouche and there are 2 P’s ( meaning rebuild during the 60’s). Have A4 left side od stock which is a rebuild mark from Benicia Arsenal. A lot of glass bedding inside this stock and specific area’s needed to have a nice receiver fit. Overall the stock is solid, just need to work on some area’s if wanted to keep it.
Front HG is Walnut with a small old crack that has been fixed. NO Liner and the Front Ferrule has been epoxy’d to the HG ( reason not needing a liner) Still a nice solid HG to use as a backup.
