Texas parade for Medal of Honor recipients.
Every year the city of Gainesville, Texas hosts any and all Medal of Honor recipients for a weekend of meetings, events, and a parade. All their expenses are completely covered by the city, from airfare, to lodgings, meals, and incidentals. The MoH recipients are flown to DFW airport where they are met and escorted by thousands of motorcycle riders to the city of Gainesville. The convoy takes 10 minutes to pass any particular spot and every overpass has First Responders and their vehicles flying enormous American flags and lined up to salute the veterans. Law enforcement from every city shuts down all access to the freeways so the convoy can pass by unhindered. It's been my honor to ride in both the escort on my motorcycle and in the parade driving my M37 acting as chauffeur for Harvey C. Barnum Jr. who earned his MoH in Vietnam. I couldn't be prouder of how my fellow Texans express their support and thanks for these heroes.
