4 Nov 2023 Garand Picture of the Day - A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BARRACKS ARMORER
-
Reading this reminds me of going to draw weapons in Pendleton, it was a barn standing in a defended perimeter surrounded by high concertina and razor wire. The barn had no hole bigger than a rifle could be passed through end first and guards had 37 Ithacas with eight shot mags. I could see the seal wire passed through holes drilled to keep the men from manipulating the shotguns while on duty, empty chamber and full mag. Rack the pump, break the wire in case of war. All members inside were armed with pistols too. All done before first light, I can imagine how long it took to do a camp like Pulgas before ranges in the morning. Long, long time ago.
