Just picked one of these up on eBay. No reason why, really, I just have a thing for specific-use cases and I like the color!
I wonder if anyone might be able to tell me a little more about it. Or about Collingwood. Or about what sort of training it was used for.

I'd suggest that it was a modern tool box for some piece of equipment. Latterly, we used to get these things for types of weaponry. The problem - if it was a problem - was that the same items would be common, across the board, so you could end up with 3 identical pairs of pliers or...... You get my drift.
As for HMS Collingwood, what about looking it up on Google. I think that it was a Navy engineering training base.

Regardless of intended use, I do really love this type of case. Dedicated use and some provenance to boot. Pretty neat! No idea yet what I'll keep in it.
If you show us the contents we might be able to figure out what it was used foe between us.
Unfortunately, the case is empty as shown. It will be co-opted for...something...once I decide what!
