Batch of Fake Stamps Sold Late May

Thx to New2brass on the CCC forum a heads up was put out about a Stack of 25 M1 Carbine Stock Stamps.

Of course all are Fake. GB Seller was Havegun11553. Buyer was Eleventh child.
From the few I could get a good view of they have the usual mistakes.
One example is on Picture #4 of the Boxed RMC Stamp, pictured below.

That RMC stamp is really sad! You can spot that one ten feet away if you know what to look for.

I don't have one, But is that what it looks like on Harrison's Template?

If they can F up the easiest one- the boxed RMC, Just imagine how bad they are on real detail like the CC Stamps :rolleyes:

Very little space (like a c**t hair) between the top and bottom of the letters and the box edge on his template. I would say that the stamps were copied from his book.

That's what I thought. Reverse the Template and there's your 'Blue Print' for the stamp die.

Fake parts are bad enough but can be replaced. I just really Hate seeing WWII Vintage GI Stocks being Ruined..... Only so many of them left. One whack away from the fire pit.

I looked at a Rock Ola at a recent show and questioned the (I knew it was Fake) RMC in the box. Seller proudly pulled out that Template showing me it matched. When telling him I'd pass he said 'I wouldn't find another like it'

I replied - You what to bet on that?

It certainly does look like Harrison's. So do the others. The letter placements are slightly off on the Underwood stamps too.

Speaking of fakes, I ran across this Herlo barrel that has a DOD acceptance stamp on it haha. If they were all rejected by the government, how could it have a DOD acceptance stamp on it?

The DAS does not always mean acceptance by the government, the below quote is from the Federal Register archives. Not saying the stamp on the herlo barrels is legit just saying the presence of the DAS does not always mean what we think it does.

“When a DOD procurement inspection approval stamp is affixed to any materiel, it shall not be construed to mean that the materiel has or has not been accepted by the government.”

Thanks Wayne, I had no idea. One would think that if a legit stamp is on a legit item,then it was accepted haha. I thought it was only an acceptance stamp. I had no idea it could mean other things too. I read the Herlo section on the carbine club website and it just mentions that others have added stamps to make them look accepted but didn't mention a DOD stamp.
