I'm not familiar with the WW Eleven Lithgow SMLE Mk2*.
It must be very rare as there appears to be no mention anywhere of a Mk2* SMLE.
Maybe its a No2 ............................
SHORT RIFLE No. 2
Approved 28th April 1916 (LoC 17755) for Land Service, this is the first rifle made from up from an original SMLE Mk III, the .303 barrel was bored out and a .22 calibre liner inserted. Conversions were done by A.G. Parker & Co. Ltd. and Wesley Richards & Co. Some 1,743 conversions reported.
World war 2, rifle mk.111 star on rec. below bolt handle. My mistake.
Values can vary allot as the depth of buyers pockets do and can vary, its all dependant of the condition of the rifle in general with the bore being top of the list.
Not sure on what year they went away from mercuric primers but they were very bad for the bores forming salts and rusting bores in a matter of hours after use or battle.
They range here from $500 - $600 Aud for a well used one to $1,000 + for a really top notch one again the market decides pretty much the top prices, again asking and getting are two different things I have seen high priced ones still for sale after 12 months listed.
I am gonna, Pass it down to son. Thanks for information. I would think it's worth at least $800 U.S.
Don't see JJ-CO, HV behind rear site. HV on stock too .
