Do these sell for a premium? SN 364991, Hexagonal receiver made by Westinghouse in 1915. All matching, good condition with original sling. Bidding is currently up to $800. I'm not a Moist Nugget guy, only ever having owned one in my life. What's a reasonable value range for this puppy?

Thank you for that. It has a D stamp. Unfotunately the pictures have some sort of watermark that interferes with magnifying it after I save the picture so I can't get any detail on the rear sight or sling attachment.Quote:

The Finns made a lot of use of 1891's. They were not particular about matching numbers, making working rifles from what ever they could buy or capture. Some examples appear fairly untouched, others have bits scavenged from several donors.
A New England Westinghouse is pretty cool, but the question is how much of it remains original. Two piece stock? What kind of rear sight? Original barrel? This and more could have been replaced under Finnish ownership, and some force matched. Seems at about the limit price wise given what we know (which isn't enough, in my book), but things are crazy now, so who knows.

Depending on if it is SA marked with Finn hangers and a Finn oval buckle leather sling you are getting close to top value. I would rather have a Westinghouse with all correct parts and matching original serial numbers. Those seem to be around $1000 at WI gun shows. Maybe look at the U.S. Mosin section in the book that has some additional information and still in print is:
