Finally done AHHQ 1/16th scale Tiger 1 Wittmann S04 in 3 tone cammo already done a 1/35th Wittmann Tiger 1 in winter cammo. No really big issues with the build only thing it had missing parts but AHHQ came through with the parts so shout out to Andy for that.
I went for European earth dusty look with light patina with a bit of staining & rust pretty happy overall with the look.
Things I found out along the way ~ Wheel attachment - where to place the glue on the spacers was vague to allow wheels to turn and stay on the axles.
Tracks drove me barmy with the clean up points on the grousers/guide horns/track pins took about 2 weeks to do on - off.
If your going to weather your tracks make sure you do not get pigment & fixer fluid into the track pin holes as it pretty much seized the tracks up.
Was a real mission to get them subtle again so they would work.
The guide horns are very fragile & easily broken off the grouser plate as they only locate by two small pins.
So don't go trying to push the tank any distance you'll lose them.
No one ever told me with large decals to put pin holes in them as they bubbled with the microsol fluids and are now matt sealed.
So remember with large decals a number of small pin pricks before you use any decal solution on them lesson learned for me.
No where in the plans for S04 or other types does it show where the inertia starting handle goes it's not there at all but included in the kit!
Started 26.03.2024 - Fin 24/11/2024.
I'm into a 1/35th Trumpeter KV-1 and already know why they are cheaper than most kits.
Pretty much like the Zvezda 1/35th T-34 I built a nightmare fitting everything especially the hull halves!
Anyway thanks for looking. (Pen for scale)

Simply exemplary. The rust on the muffler cover plates is one real standout among many. What fine work. Thanks for taking us along on the process!

Better than I could do.
Weren't the interior painted white?

Hi Riter, the hatch inner faces are dunkelgelb yellow (Dark Yellow) the interior of the turret/inner compartments are ivory not white.
The hatches were coloured the same as the base hull colour when they were open if having a white surface then it was more of a chance of the enemy picking up on it give the Germans their due pound for pound their heavy AFV's & TD's dished out lethal punishment to enemy tankers.
Despite the amount of effort to build the Tiger family & TD's and Panthers in WWII they are my favourite WWII AFV.
Even though modeling them the roadwheel set up drives me bonkers sometimes, there are 48 road wheels on a Tiger with its cross country tracks fitted and 40 road wheels with the narrow tracks for rail transport.
