I'm no expert but the characters remind me of Russian origin. The arrow in a triangle is for izhevsk But I don't know about the circle around the triangle. Remember though, I'm definitely no expert
Thanks guys. I know zilch about SKS's. A friend was asking about a stock he acquired. I did have an SKS back in the 80's that I paid about $80 for.
I don't know a whole lot about SKS's either but I do know the Russian ones are some of the nicer or better built ones. They bring a higher value also. If I were to go trying to find a good SKS, I would try to find a Russian one.
Opinions seem to vary on who built the best SKS. Some say Yuogslavs, some China, some USSR. The Yugoslavs experimented with various adaptations of the Kochetov scope mount on theirs, which would tend to imply that they made them accurate enough to warrant fitting a scope!
Chinese seem to be better finished than USSR where either production quotas or "they pretend to pay us so we pretend to work" ethos prevailed. ;)
All in all, not much of gun IMHO, but here in Carneyville they seem to be magically exempt from the restrictions that have blighted all other semi-autos in 7.62x39. Some say this is due to their popularity with aboriginal users. Prices have therefore shot up recently, no pun intended. :p
I have a Norinco sks-m
Factory made to use AK47 mags
It will hang with an M1a at 100 yards
It's a Russian Izhevsk stock. They were only made two years, 1953 and 1954 and are thus rarer than the Tula's. I have a Yugo and it's well made. They do not have chrome lined barrels however.
Sorry I can't help you with any stock information
I Had a 1955 Russian SKS at one time.
Even with earplugs and headphones, still make your ears ring!
Down the road she went!
