Garand Bayonet
I've an M1 10 inch bayonet that was given to me by the former Marine that used it during the retreat from the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. It is well used and was often sharpened.
I've a picture of Jack Waterstrom and his wife Annie somewhere where he was cutting up a pig we had buried over fire and rocks and after digging it up, cutting it up in my garage. He appeared to have done this before. Waited over half a day for that pig to cook. They were good people (lost in life) and Jack's bayonet is a treasured and still sharp possession.
Edit: Jack gave me his bayonet as I had a Garand and no bayonet. "Ya gotta have a bayonet with a Garand" he said.

Neat story, but impossible to do anything with it.

It's ok not everything is in pristine, mint condition; some things have had a life.

If it was perfect, it wouldn't have been at Chosin Resevoir and a beautiful piece of American history. Keep it exactly as is in honor of the gentleman who carried it in service of our country. Thank you for sharing its history.
