i would guess these things are made someplace that smells like rice and fish

There seems to more and more of these stamps. For the more seaoned collectors the fakes are easy to spot. But the novice is going to get taken.

Wait till they get better at making them and they will. It will be very hard even for the seasoned collector to tell them apart from the real deal.
