SA/JLG stock question

I came across an SA/JLG stock at the Knoxville,Tennessee RK gunshow over the weekend and purchased it. The stock has not been on metal in years as evidenced by the sealed holes from some bug living in the buttstock holes. It has a minor break on one side and the area around the cartouche has been scratched or more like picked from some repeated mishandling. Other than that, the stock is in pretty decent shape for a wooden item that has been kicking around for 65+ years.

Now the problem. I have misplaced Duff and can't remember what serials this stock fits. Damn, I know I am stupid, but this is ridiculous! So, if someone will take pity on me and check their Duff's and tell me where this stock should fall in the serial.

BTW, I bought this stock for so little, you would accuse me of lying except the guy didn't want to pack it out on Sunday about 3:30. He also gave me a second Overton stock to get rid of it. It has a minor break though.

serial # 4,200,001 to about 4,300,000

JLG's were used on 4.2 million SA Garands built 11-52 to 4-53. They were the last "initial" stamped stocks and are rare. The DOD stamp followed the "JLG".

Not sure if the dates are precise, I took them from the Duff booklet. The JLG may have continued to August of 1953 when Guion was replaced as SA Commander, according to Duff's book.

You'll find JLG stocks on rifles later than April 1953. It was used well into the summer of 53 and maybe a bit later.

FWIW, the changeoever on barrels from the Ordnance Escutcheon to the DAS seems to have occurred in July 1953.

Based on the comments by Tom above, would it generally be true that if the barrel had the DAS then the stock would also be DAS versus a mix of DAS barrel and ordnance escutcheon?

Or in more clear terms would you most likely only see DAS barrel & DAS stock and JLG stock to Ordnance Escutcheon barrels? Did any mixing of the two occur?
