Now, I have to admit I do not own an SKS, any of the Mosins or other milsurps other than Brits or Canadian....BUT...I have been weakening. If I could find one in as new condition with a .308 bore I might cave in....any ideas? Dave

I have a Sako and a B barrel M39 and really like them. They are well made and look good. But I can't seem to shoot them as well as some people do.
I bought mine back when they were $150 to $200 US, now I see them anywhere from $200 to $500. At least the ammo is still cheap.
I think you will have a hard time finding one with a .308 bore. I know they are out there but the smallest ones I have see so far are .310.
I have a 1943 Sk-y, and it shoots as straight as I can hold it. The ammo is so cheap I never considered re-loading and it too has a bore of .310. A small trade off for the performance, HTH. SDH
Your best bet at finding one with a .308 bore is to look for a nice M28 or M28/30, but be advised they are rarer so you will compete with collectors and the price will be higher as a result.
