New Mk III, .308
As much as I said I'd never buy a painted gun, I blew it today. I went to a small local gunshow looking for some parts and a new scope for a project, I saw a pretty nice looking painted Mk III in .308 from India cheap enough for me that I had to have it. It's dated 1967, real nice looking bore, marked R.F.I. with Numrich import marks. I never planned on collecting Lee Enfields to any great degree, but, that could be changing. The more I see the more I like, hum, first signs of madness! Go figure, I'm just turning 50 and already going crazy-SDH:bash:

sdh1911,
Is your new rifle labeled Mk111 or a 2A1? Made at Ishapore in 1967 in 7.62 NATO I presume it would be a 2A1. I sure like my 2A made in 1965!
-
That's a 2A1. Actually pretty rare for Canada.
-
What differences are there between the 2A and the 2A1?:dunno:

Stevo,
From my reading of Stratton's book "British Enfield Rifles" Vol 1 pg.58 the 50,000 or so 2A's had rear sights graduated elevation to 2000 yards and the later 2A1's had graduations to only 800 yds.

Looks like the 2A1, the rear sight is only at 800 yards, other than that its pretty clean-SDH
