Sorry serial number should read 1,713,xxx.
Would you expect to find either a I cut or Oval cut Hi-wood stock on a RMC 1,713,xxx?
RMC are new to me, but it would seem per the books either might be found.
Am I wrong?

Hi-wood Oval cut with RMC in sling slot.
My 1729xxx has an I-cut high wood, which is believed to be original as mfgd. This carbine was produced 10-43. At this time Rock-Ola was sending I-cut highwood stocks to Inland. hth.

Would that be the RMC with the I stamped in the slingwells?

Remember I have that Oval Cut Hi-Wood Stamped RSG with the I in the slingwell and a Inland CC. The Inland sized CC is distorted from being sanded over and having a rack paint job on it. But after stripping it enough remains to be able to measure it and see it's an Inland CC Stamp.It also has the green number stamp inside that I've found on many early Robert Irwin stocks.

I'm still trying to figure out what to use this one on...Early Inland...I guess. Now if I only had a early Inland...may have to sell it. But how in the world would you describe it to a newer collector?
The wood fascinates me....the metal is a plus.

The RMC I at the top is definitely an I-Cut as it passed through my hands at one time. All of the RMC I stocks that I've seen are I-cut highwood. Rock-Ola produced an abundance of I-Cut stocks and we know they were in use at least through 10-43. At some point the highwood oval was phased in, there is a lot of speculation as to when this took place. Unfortunately there are very few original unmessed with Rock-Ola's to glean knowledge from. Most all of the original 2nd block Rock-Ola's with their original stocks I've seen are highwood oval cut. My personal thoughts are the I-Cut was used throughout most of the first block. Your RSG I Inland CC is definitely an interesting stock. Perhaps one for articles and knowledge yet to be written.
