Jap light Machine gun ammo, nick name the wood pecker, as it sounded like one when being shot.
it is 7.7mm but not the same as a Type 99..i used to see them by the case at shows, but not in a while.
Sorry CID those are 8mm Lebel rounds. I've got a couple of those clips as well. Note the rim and steep taper on the case.
Yes it is for a Mle 1914 Hotchkiss machine gun.
your correct, missed the rimmed cases, sure looked like jap machine gun strip..
