~ The Mysterious and Elusive type #1 Lockbar Sight
re: ~ The Mysterious and Elusive type #1 Lockbar Sight.
This is just a passing thought and somewhat of a curiosity question, Does anyone here either own or has encountered an M1 rifle equipped with a type #1 lockbar sight? Has anybody ever seen a type #1 lockbar sight?
I'm just guessing that most type #1 lockbar sights were replaced at the armorer's first opportunity. It would be logical to suppose that most of those sights were probably scrapped!
I have an early 1941 vintage M1 Garand rifle that by it's serial number was out-shopped from Springfield with a Flushnut sight set. Sometime later that Garand was equipped with a type #2 lockbar sight which it has now. Would guess that the 1941 rifle skipped right past type #1 lockbar retrofit sight phase.
Any type #1 sight collectors or aficionados around here? Thanks! . . . .:dancingbanana:
I have seen them................
And own two of them on Brit LL Garands. My other Brit LL Garand has a flush nut sight.
