I just picked up a civilian made plainfied carbine cheap. The safety has a large M stamped on it with a smaller WA stamped along the side . Is this a military made safety? I know plainfield did use some military parts from time to time. Thanks guys. donb retired in fl.
You are looking at the magazine release. Put a magazine in the gun,push what you think is a safety and see if the magazine don`t come out. BTW,that is a modified mag catch(with thinner rails) made by Walt Manufacturing.
You safety is probably a flip(or wing if you prefer),beside the magazine catch.

Last year I picked up a Plainfield in Leesburg Fl.at a pawn shop. Lot of military parts on it but a fine shooter! Had thirty round mag. also.

"...some military parts..." Most likely put on by a previous owner. Fortunately, Plainfields will take 'em with no fuss. Mine likes Speer 110 grain HP's with IMR4227. 13.5 to 15.0(c).
