R.G.I. Vs. R.F.I. No.1 Mk3

Is there any differences in terms of rarity/desirability/accuracy between the two eras of Indian made rifles? Mine was made in 1949. It is marked R.G.I. All of the parts that are serialized match.

I have collected up some rounds, had a Gunsmith check it, and got the rifle well cleaned, but I have not gotten to a range yet. The barrel gleams it is so smooth, the lack of pitting was a nice surprise.

I was also wondering if anyone can clue me in about the availability of appropriate ammo in the U.S.? Thanks in advance for any help.

Military rifles manufactured at Ishapore pre-1948 are stamped "GRI" on the buttsocket, referring to George Rex, Imperator- ie, King George VI, last Emperor of India, whilst military rifles manufactured post-1948 are stamped "RFI", which stands for Rifle Factory, Ishapore.
