Two minutes too late to buy.. (WalMart Ammo)

Went into my local Wallyworld this AM to pick up a child carseat for my visiting grandson. When I first went in to the store, I made a beeline for the ammo counter per my usual routine. When I got there, another gentleman was just completing a transaction on 4 boxes of Remington .45 ACP. Thought this was going to be my lucky day to stock up on some ammo. Turns out the ammo was just brought out from the back room and the guy in front of me bought it all. Only other handgun ammo available was lots of .25 Auto.

IMHO it's past time to start reloading. I only buy .22's and cheap russian 7.62X54 for components.

I do reload. Problem there is locating primers, powder, and bullets. Reloading components nowadays are just as scarce as factory ammo. Oh, I have my reserves to fall back on but, these days one has to buy (components and factory ammo) whenever it's available.

Primers... Primers.... doesn't matter if its FMJ, hollow point, gold dot, or self-molded.... Those $3000 custom jobs are not as useless as the $80 ravens.... its all comes down to that little silver pill in the back of the cartridge.

I agree that components are very hard to locate but not impossible with primers being the hardest to find. The only place I know that has them is in Tulsa Ok. They have plenty but wont ship & only allow 1K per customer. If you can go there or know someone local, they can be had. It's almost worth getting several to go together to cover the cost of a road trip if you live within a few hours drive of them . You can look them up on the web at dongsguns.com. As far as pistol bullets go, I order mine from montanagoldbullets.com. They are good bullets & resonably priced. I've been using them for years with no problems. They sell mainly pistol bullets in popular calibers but do have 55gr. 223 rifle. You can buy 1k or a full case.

I got lucky Thursday last. A local gunsmith/shop just that day got in LR and LP primers so I got 1K each. Last month I happened into a large Outddorsman store in No, Ohio looking for an 8lb jug of H4895. They didn't have that but still sitting on the dock was an 8 lb jug of IMR 4895 Which most of my rifles like

I've been regularly making the rounds of the local gun shops and pick up what I can when they have it in stock. I might have to go to several stores to pick up one item. You have to be there when it hits the shelf.
