I have made contact with a .22 kit maker in the States via Fal-Files and will report back gents.
Cheers mate, I will bare that in mind, early days yet.
Project latest, an original liner located to go with my L12A1 mag .... now .... anyone got a bolt group they don't want!
Cheers, John.
If you've already acquired the rest of the bits, can't you just ask the maker of the new kits to send you a set of working parts.
As I remember it, there were TWO magazine inserts. There was the original issues where the sub-cal magazines were weighted to replicate a full standard magazine. Later we had magazines that were lighter because the internal collar between the outer and inner magazines was made from plastic instead of steel.
A private import is a simple matter Mr Clarke
Evening Peter,
Well, I have been very fortunate on the liner front, a very generous American friend has made a liner available to me, also one of the Fal-files "group buy" kits might also be heading my way, exporter now sorted, thanks to another mate.
I think the L12A1 mag I have is the earlier type, it is about the same weight as a bombed up 7.62 mag ..... I had wondered why it was so heavy.
The project is slowly coming together, thanks to generous and kind people.
All my efforts over two years to procure an original complete L12A1 kit have come to nothing, but in many ways, searching out components across two continents has been very rewarding, making new friends and contacts along the way.
Update......
This morning I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that my friends bid (on my behalf) for one of the first batch Falfiles group buy kits was excepted and the deal is done...:super::)
So I will have an original liner plus the new kit heading my way soon!
Possible issues... Proofing, that might be a bother!
The HK liner will already be German proofed, so no issue there, but the new kit will require proofing, I might have to offer one of my L1A1's to the Proof house as a "vessel" (or do London and Birmingham have Sec5 L1A1's knocking about for this purpose), can't see that, I will give them a call on Monday.
Fit in the bores of my L1A1's ...... Well I am a gambling man' so we will see if that's an issue, either the original HK or the new liner should hopefully fit!
Fortune favours the brave.....or stupid in my case!
I'm not sure that you need to have it proofed if it is a personal import. I have brought in a couple of things and ain't never needed it yet.
It only needs to be proofed if you decide to sell it. For now, just use it.
I thought so............ But nice to be sure!
