Just bought a 'jungle carbine' but it's stamped "No 4 MK2". It looks nothing like the MK2's I've seen but has all of the characteristics of an MK5. Could this one have been mislabeled when it was factory refurbished? It has a date of 1/52 followed by 'PF228'.
I have a couple No4's and love em all but this one shoots especially sweet and is a little easier on this little feller when tromping though the woods...
Not likely a No5 "mislabeled". Post some pics of the receiver area- it will be easy to confirm if it's a No4 that's been turned into a No5 by someone....
My pics are too large ("File too Large") and I can't find my camera manual to take smaller pics...can anyone tell me how I can make them small enough to fit here or through my Sony Cyber-Shot? I post pics elsewhere all the time and haven't run into this problem before...
The exact printing on the side of the receiver is:

And just to the right of the above is hand-etched:
No4 MK2 (F)
1/52 PF228.670 (which also matches up in a couple other places)

The first marking are import marks denoting the calibre, country of origin and the importer. They were applied so it could be brought into the USQuote:

Looking at the pics it's been chopped down to look like a No5- something that was not done at the factory. Very tidy, but not an original "jungle carbine"
It's not a real Enfield, but still hunting after the P'14 snipers .. Well, at least I already got their ancestor, a real Enfield: The Pattern 1913 (Oh yeah, and forgot to mention that I'm also hunting for the Parker-Hale .22lr conversion of the P'14).
I took it to a Tucson gunsmith and he believes it's a a No4 receiver matched with a No5 barrel and stock. He pulled out a 'true' No5 and the barrels match along with all other specs...then we took them both to the range. We couldn't tell any difference! He liked mine enough to offer 300 for it...I may kick myself later but I declined. I have a couple No4's but this is by far my favorite of every Enfield I've been around...and is second only to my K98.
I would say a DeLisle. But there is only one or two originals in the States.
