considering the flat buttplate, I'm going to guess G block.
its a "F" Block actually
Serial number is F 16980, which I have added to the g43/k portugese k98k survey.
That's great ...
An "F" block... even before the "G" block, which many of those were snapped up by the German Army and shipped to the Russian front. That's a keeper....
The "H" blocks all made it to Portugal.
Is there a "cross" on the butt plate?

Ok, here is a new purchase (won on Valley Guns last month but arrived this month). Matching BRNO Czech K98k.

In this second pic, the rifle is NOT an August purchase, but most of the depicted accessories are :)

Very nice Claven!! (as always ;))
Wow...sure can see the bluing wear there...just a well used rifle?...or did some boner use toilet bowl cleaner on it once?
also...the stock plate. I realize it was intended to prevent the wood from getting bashed up but why doesnt it go all the way around?
i nthe pics, the blueing looks nice below the woodline. I'd say the finish wear looks like honest handling, albeit alot over a long time to remove that much finish! Bear in mind too, in another thread, the owner mentioned it's been restored with an original, but mismatched, stock set. I'd guess the older stock showed wear closer to what's evident on the rest of the rifle. nifty piece nevertheless.
This is a sporter re-militarization project that I've had in the works for about 2 years now. Its a BCD 43 mixmaster with intact markings. The receiver, bottom metal and barrel are all appropriate for a 43BCD, but nothing matches. The scope is marked Dr.A.Schroder, Kassel, Baldur 6x56. The optics are clear with a German 3 post reticle and the scope adjustment works. I had to re barrel it (Thanks EPP's), and I was lucky to find a barrel with the same code and year as the original(FN 43) with an almost perfect bore down south. I'll take it out to shoot next week after I bed the receiver as it seems a little loose in the stock. The last thing I need is a solid front band. Anyone got an extra lying around?
