Good part is that there are lots of really decent 140 and 120-grain slugs available now. These are what I would start with for handloading. That 32-inch original tube could handle anything for powder, even though the Italian factory stuff was pretty fast. If this were my rifle, I would try 4198 with a 120; I'm shooting Remington 140s with 4198 in my Model 41 and it shoots beautifully.
Carcanos are really nice rifles and very much underappreciated IMHO.
