On the subject of really original carbines: That early 5 digit of mine is, I believe all original except for the correct wood that you supplied to me. While I have several that I believe to be all correct, I have my doubts that they are all original. I got the Inland from a WWII vet who said it was his issue rifle, and I believe him. Every part in it was very early Inland and I doubt he replaced anything, except the stock. At $750 when he could well have gotten over $1000 for it, I think he was passing it on to someone he believed would value it as much as he did and who would preserve it. Even though it had an M2 stock, I just couldn't leave it that way when all it needed was wood. And thanks to you, while it still isn't original, it is like it was built with the exception of the wood; correct, but not original. I suspect that is as original as any of them are today.
