Why not just tweek the front lip out a bit then? Use some slip joint pliers with a bit of electric tape over the serrations and just straighten the front to match the good ones?

That's my next option. I tried doing it once, but it was a little tight. We never had to modify Mags in the Service so I just wanted to see why some worked and a few didn't.
Absolutely anything could have happened to those mags while they were still in the wrap and in some dealer's hands. Most people wouldn't notice if these got a squeeze or smash that would deform something...while still in the paper.
I have used the receiver with trigger guard attached in stock (minus bolt and slide) for a form for the mags, using a round wood or nylon dowel to pry lips into place.
Interesting that the roll crimp on the front seam is rolled the opposite way the mags. Were they marked the same?
