Just picked up a decent WW2 Imperial leather handled M4 in M8 sheath on ebay for $125 including shipping. Worn, but blade appears unmolested and unsharpened, Leather in good shaped with smooth grooves, though sheath has a minor issue on tip. Considering how much original leather handled bayonets are going for, I was happy with the deal. Nice thing about the Imperials is they were all 1944/1945 production.
I still see them occasionally in that price range. You just need to be in the right place at the right time. That's what I paid for the last one I bought a little less than a year ago. It is a Utica in an M8 scabbard.
Stoped by the gunshop to visit my Inland. Put an M2 ball round in the muzzle and it showed a full quarter inch! I am safe in saying, ME is less than 1!
Very likely! That is a tight barrel.
Too Bad about the cracked gas cylinder.......... :dancingbanana:
LOL! NowIam going to be sleepless until I cna check it! I do know Browningauto had one with a cracked gas cylinder, though!
Digging through my carbine stuff I kept: Besides a big stack of 15 and 30 round mags and about 900 rounds of assorted ammo I found MRT marked D tip USGI sling, IS Oiler, a repop carbine canvas case, extra recoil plate screw and escutcheon, several 10 1/4” extra recoil springs , a NIW grenade sight and pouch, all the parts to rebuild a bolt, a GI bolt tool and gas piston but wrench, an extra front sight, and brass and reloading dies. I am glad I resisted the impulse to sell it all off when I traded off the last Carbine.
Good going Charlie. Poor guy has been having carbine withdrawal since he sold his last one and has been on pins and needles waiting for his new one. And you turn around and give him the Big One so he is rushed to the hospital where he is treated but must now be quarantined for at least two more weeks without his carbine. And then by chance he was near someone with the Beer Virus he can't go out for another two weeks. Of course his Governor closes down all ranges because of fire hazards so it may be years before he can even shoot his carbine. By the way, any snow today?
Heck of it is, my FFL called me and saidCOVID has bogged things down so much FFL told me that it is taking 18-21 days to get the ten day clearance.
