I've found a convenient way to parkerise is simply to boil the part in Coca Cola (which is 0.5% phosphoric acid). It changes a bright/silvery/polished "in the white" finish into a dove-grey matt finish.
And to think I've wasted hundreds of pounds on the ingredients over the years........I could've just bought a bottle of Pepsi Max!

Thank you Roger, you can definitely see the Long Branch brackets were the inspiration for the angled leg. Just a shame it's so perfectly done.
