the price its bid up to is a fair price for a fake A4, the scope, Genuine bolt, Stock ect, are worth that much alone.
had you sold them at auction..
scope 500.00 plus
bolt 550.00 plus,
stock 300.00 plus
rings 75.00 plus.
then you have a rifle that can be made into a nice shooter, hunting rifle, D&T with a base, worth 250.00 plus all day long.
heck id pay that for a nice Remington A3 already D&T for a Redfield type base, with GI barrel..
FWIW - Seller listed the scope serial # as 10008 - yet in Pix. #5 you can see part of the serial # xx38x aft of the rear ring.
Another point, IMO the scope depicted is a parts scope at best. $150.00 value at most.
To me its the BS story that makes me angry. The parts may or may not be worth a grand, but the seller is just putting out a bunch of crap. People will read that story and before we know it parts start showing up on ebay as factory A4 conversion parts! Judging by what the seller knows about serial number blocks for the A4 and the Weavers I would say he is not new to this rodeo, just fishing for a sap with some money. Like most of you I have sat through many a gunshow and listened to some of the stories people had to tell about their firearms. Some are very nostalgic and interesting and some are pure made up BS intentionally spewed to hype the price of their otherwise piece o crap gun. This is one of those stories that just reaks! Buyer beware, but for sellers like this Karma is right around the corner.
though i agree that he knew the story is total BS, and called some bimbo at Remington to make his BS look better,
as for the scope???personally i dont think there should bring more then 50.00
but, we all know that if that scope were selling on ebay, it would fetch stupid money, even with a BS story with it.

Are we speaking from experience? Just teasing ya, Chuck! Those Russian women are hot, but one of our area older guys got killed by one of those Russian brides. She walked with everything he owned. Claimed he threatened her, which he probably did as she was porking about half the county.
I'm older than dirt with money, she is 20 and gorgeous, and I am going to marry her and expect it to work (the marriage I mean)? Makes 1903's look like a bargain. I will stick with the 1903's.

Unlike the old Shotgun News or Gun List, the internet has provided a medium where a seller can write a description a long as he likes. This gives the seller the chance to either accurately describe what he is selling, or as in the case of the above rifle, offer nothing but pure BS. That is where it is up to the buyer to know what he is buying, or if not sure to seek help from someone who does before he shells out big money.
There was a long thread on one of the 1911 forums about a seller not giving an accurate description of a pistol he was selling. While the description was not accurate, and this had more to do with how much original finish was remaining, the seller had provided excellent photos which plainly showed that the finish was not as nice as described. The seller also provided information that the serial number of the frame and slide did not match. Anyone that bought the pistol strictly from the seller's description did not use all the information provided, and in my opinion had only himself to blame. Regardless of what the description is, it is up to the buyer to be sure of what he is buying. I think this thread has given us a good example of what is going on out there, and I don't believe there is a single person here that would fall for the BS story.
