This is what was on the DR I got. I'd not consider restoring it to .30-06. I suppose it could be lined as a .22 RF.

I would agree with you on the barrel you pictured, but it's not what mine looks like.
admited, som DP rifles were not trully DP modified, iv had some that were filled with epoxy of some kind, as well as the cutoff glued down..you know i made that one shoot.
iv seen serveral others with no plug in the bore, but rough in the chamber area, likely from a rod at one time..
use common sinse and practice range safety at all times..
A while back I believe the CMP was selling non-serviceable rifles and or drill rifles. This was 6 or 7 years ago. I ordered on because they were inexpensive. When I received it, the only thing that had been done to it was the bolt face was welded. No welds on the receiver or barrel and no plug in the barrel. Needless to say the bolt went by to the old bolt bucket and a new bolt installed. Head spaced perfect and shoots great.
Now this is the exception not the rule.
