it give purpose to prowling the gunshows!
Nice find and enjoy it, I prefer to use it in jcGarand matches over my M1 (G or C).
Hey Jimi,
Great finds and prices. What is the condition of the rifle and bayonet?
Are there any marks on the left side of the stock around the wrist and if any what are they?
Restoration is the choice to the taste of the owner. I choose not to restore if the rifle appears to be a "Correct" rearsenal because of the history. Original military rifles of any sort are hard and expensive. Almost all have been through an arsenal one or several times. Have a Remington M1917 with beautiful blue, very early serial, matching barrel and bolt. Most of the small parts are Winchester, only three or so are Eddystone. Stock is a Winchester with Augusta and San Antonio arsenal marks. Will never change a part. The parts mix and the stampings match as a reworked M1917, a part of the history of the rifle, like that.
