Public Enemies

I saw it yesterday. Decent flick but I was'nt overly impressed. I'd watch it again someday,but I won't pay for it the second time.

A part of this movie was shot in downtown Oshkosh,Wisconsin.Because of the old buildings, all they had to change were the signs above the stores.They even used an old bank for one of the robberies.At the movie premiere there,many townspeople turned out in period clothing.It reminded me of the Andy Griffith show when the movie people came to Mayberry to shoot a film and the town transformed itself into something completley different.

Is it worth it if one were to watch the movie simply as a nostalgic shoot-em-up flick without regard to factual accuracy?
Aside from the guns, cars, and clothes, did they get the red, white, and blue mail drop boxes, push button light switches, old globe-type street lamps etc?

I hope they didn't ruin it by focusing too much on a corny love story like they did in "Pearl Harbor"

Ahhh.........yea they did stick the corny love story into it.
As posted above,an ok flick but no blockbuster. I left the theater feeling about the same as I did when I saw "Gran Torino". That too was an ok movie but I would'nt pay to see it a second time yet I will watch it when it eventually comes on the tube.

JB, there was a scene where the camera was focused on a traffic signal. It was not a modern traffic signal. I'm not sure it was "period" but it appeared to be vintage. I didn't notice the mail boxes or light switches. I meant to look at the American flags to look at the number of stars but I forgot. As far as historical accuracy, I think it had some issues. IIRC, Baby Face Nelson didn't die in the movie under the same circumstances he did in real life. I'm sure that wasn't the only issue. I don't expect much in the historical accuracy department from Hollywood.

Thanks guys. I'll wait until it turns up on a cable channel before I sit back to watch it. The Mrs. wants to go out tonight, so I reckon we'll skip the movie and spend the money on a better restaraunt.

Went this afternoon with my daughter. I enjoyed it. Reminded me when I went to see Bonnie and Clyde when I was 16, but I had to sneek in! LOL
The 33-1/3 record player was out of place, and the street light did look like a 1960's fixture. The Texas ranger was the one guy you had respect for, Purvis was not the hero of this one, as you might expect. I think they did gun JD down in the back, though-he had gotten away too many times, and Jedgar was not amused. A good flick.
