Here in MI we have a pistol registration law. The law excuses antiques or 'replicas there of', in all parts except where it details the registration process. In general. NYC law requires that long guns be registered. A three year permit, $55, automatically renewable .

From NRA website on Gun Laws in NYC:

"The following persons may possess rifles and shotguns without a permit or certificate:

8.) Persons who possess antique rifles and shotguns, defined as manufactured prior to 1894 and replicas which are not designed to fire fixed ammunition.............."

There's a whole list of circumstances wherein a person doesn't need a permit to possess a long gun in NYC. I Don't see where its' labled, "The Official list of little known loopholes".

TDH; you should live in Il., the state I retired to MI from!! MI. does have a pretty effective pro gun lobby now. Not as good as the Il. State Rifle Assoc. however.
