it is a great source of info, and i ordered all the back orders, and it takes 2-3 months to get, but there are hundreds of double sided pages(like 3 reams of paper worth minimum, so copying on their side will take a while, but worth the weight and wait.
OK OK, i stand corrected, i will join, all i got was an email address of someone, they never responded to me like i said. so i never knew it was so little to join.

I also am a Carbine Club member, and am proud to say that I am. It's a great group of people working towards a common goal: of finding out as much about the M1 Carbine as we can! The information that is in the newsletters is just awesome: I always can't wait to get my hands on each copy, wondering what it will contain! It's also cool to wonder if your carbine will "become famous" in an article (due to the data-sheets you provide!). :D
Agree that the Carbine Club is worth joining, and worth the wait (and $$, if you're a die hard carbine fan) for the back issues.
As macgunner pointed out, having a "famous" (or mint original) carbine featured in the newsletter is pretty exciting as well. I was fortunate enough to have my IBM#37358xx make "Carbine of the Month" back in March 2007. Pretty neat, I thought.
I've found the clubmembers to be a good group of people who have been most helpful.

Ive been a member for almost 2 years and Im really glad that I joined. It did take a little while for things to get going but it is well worth the wait. I figure that the folks that put it together have families and jobs etc so there are probably times when it might take a little while to get a responce. There is a absolute wealth of information in the newsletters.I read them from front to back a few times as soon as I get them and then I put them in a 3 ring binder for future reference(which I constantly take advantage of) that is dedicated only to the CC Newsletters. I also enjoy filling out the data sheets too. I save a copy of them for my own use, this way I can refer to them ,for instance if I want to know who made the trigger or whatever in one of my carbines.
I do have a question I need to ask them though, I bought a super nice Saginaw receiver that at a gunshow in Tombstone in April (I snagged it for $40.00:dancingbanana:)Im just curious if they would still want me to fill out a data sheet for it even if I am the person that built it. I built it for myself, not to sell or anything, I get attached to them. I have a feeling that they will but Im not sure. It sure came out really perty!! I had been needing a Saginaw to "complete" my collection of carbines... well at least untill I find another that Ive just got to get, now when is the next gunshow??? :)

Hi Aztrooper...yes, fill out a data sheet. Here's why: I've done some research in the club data sheets in the past and was surprised to see several so called "original" guns have multiple data sheets submitted to the club. Bad thing is that you see a data sheet on a complete carbine where the submitter states that it appears to be an original, as manufactured carbine then the next data sheet was submitted by a different person stating it was either a mixmaster or a gun built from parts. Please submit a data sheet as it helps to weed out the humped guns. Thanks!
I have been a CC member for a few decades + now.
When I read some folks say the back issues of the newsletters are very costly it amazes me. :dunno: Not only will you get information not available in the published books. But you will read and see how the thought patterns about different items and issues have evolved as new information has comes forth. You will also see how the values have changed. You are going to cry when you read the wanted/for sale adds of 10, 20, 30 years ago. Where else will you find this? Only from others in our hobby.
The back issues are a bargain. I would say a steal.
Remember, you will be getting 33 years worth of newsletters. That's right, 33 years. If the current yearly fee is $18 that is $594 worth. Over 350 newsletters. You won't be able to sleep wanting to get to the next one.
If or should I say when you join, I think you will be throughly happy you did. :D
Thank you for the reply, I will go ahead and fill one out and send it in. I will add a notation that I built it from parts. When I put it together I used the "correct" parts on it. This way in the future there will be a record that it was "restored" for lack of a better word.
