That really would have been unusual since Patton was issued a .380 Colt Pocket Hammerless, and a friend presented him with a Remington Model 51 in .380 also. Neither had pearl grips.Quote:

I recall a mag article about Patton's guns , mostly about the two on his hip , but in passing it said something about his pearl handled pistol he sometimes carried hidden in his waist band. I could be wrong though , or the writer of the story could have been wrong. Chris
There is a story that sounds like a figment of someone's imagination that when Patton's GO pistol was being shipped to him someone in the supply chain had a set of pearl grips put on his because they thought he would like them. The story goes on to say that the pistol would have had a set of black hard rubber grips on it, and this too is false. Colt changed from the black hard rubber to full checkered wood with medallion about 1928. Patton's GO pistol was made in 1942.
Patton's famous statement about pearl grips, "Only a pimp in a New Orleans *****house or a tin-horn gambler would carry a pearl-handled pistol.", was followed by an even saltier comment about the grips on his pistols.
