It looks like my DCRA 7.62mm Long Branch is wearing a No.5 rear sight. It's marked to 800 yards exactly like the one in the photo that Badger posted. I wonder if someone removed the PH sight and replaced it with this one at some point.
Ah........ There was an urban myth doing the rounds, during the era of the ill fated and useless(?) L81 A1 Cadet target rifle. Many of those rifles were fitted with adapted No5 0 - 800yard sights. It was said that these sights matched the trajectory of the 7.62mm L81A1 rifle exactly. if the range was read as metres instead of yards (as it would be on the No5 rifle). Unfortunately, 99.9% of the ranges in England were still calibrated in yards....., so trying to read them as metres caused a few problems....... This myth started during the trials of the L39 and 42 rifles but one of the trials team, a good bloke called Major Tony xxxxxxx told them to 'go away' and think again. Or words to that effect! Anyway, Parker Hale had a zillion of these 0 - 800 backsights and wanted to off-load them, which they did on the L81.
Anyway, there it is. A bit of a shaggy dog story and around the houses a bit but there........
As a matter of interest, you don't need any screws to fit it. Just the upright ears on the rifle, the spring, stepped plunger, the axis pin and the little PIN, retaining, pin axis backsight or a thin nail which is what we Armourers used and you're home and dry.
Anyway, to cut a long story short....................
I've got one of the axis pins here. And a plunger (which is easy to make on the lathe).
I sold a carbine sight on Fleabay recently, but didn't get much for it. I have a source of them so can always get you one if you want it.
Rifle ones seem to sell better.

Then there's a PLUNGER & SPRING under the whole assembly?
