Newbie's First post - What Is This Rifle?

Your WTF picture is of magazine loaders for use with stripper clips. I did get a kick out of that!

I think your barrel length is okay (minimum 16" to be legal) Put a cleaning rod down the barrel with the bolt closed and mark where the end of the muzzle is on the cleaning rod. Pull it out and measure it. I think you'll find it just 16".

I think it is a nice looking sporterized carbine. There is not much in the way of collector value as a whole carbine but it looks good. I would put the value on it in the $300.00 range. It is worth more parted out.

Your eyes are better than mine! I had the rifle in my hands and couldn't discern that as a partial "P". Time for glasses I guess...

Agree worth more parted out.
The stock alone could bring $300+.
C tip sling is worth $50+
Dogleg hammer $200+
Early Receiver with no stake marks but improper finish...+ or - $200
......etc

The barrel length measures 16 7/16ths" via the cleaning rod method.

I'm just a newb myself, but does the rear sight dovetail look right? Have the top flats been machined down?

I think it has been machined down. I had seen that also. The top view shows a different perspective.

Also a 22 coil hammer spring which is good for the dogleg.

What is the measurement for the depth of the dovetail? I'll mic it up.

As for any changes, trust me, my buddy just shoots, cleans, and then stores his guns. He has no inclination to make changes. If anything was changed, it was done prior to his ownership, or if something broke and had to be replaced, he would have taken it to a dealer to have it repaired.

Here's a Inland barrel.
I think yours was cut right near the line above the Inland name, where the barrel narrows for the frt sight assembly.
Note the markings on the underside flat.
