Well, I went back for another look and I think I might see where we went wrong on the cartouche. I didn't notice before, but it looks like the SA/EMcF stamp was double struck. I had been focusing on the 3rd pic, but it's more noticeable in the 2nd pic, where there is an additional line on the upper left edge, and the A shows a bit more on the bottom. I'm guessing one hit gave us an EMcF and a bottom part of the SA, and the second hit was shifted a little bit higher, slightly to the left and gave us a weak SA only. So I think that made the SA part look just a little taller cause they're from 2 strikes.
The ord wheel is double struck too, maybe the same sort of thing happened where it made it look a little taller than normal and that's what made me think it was a little too big. Also why the left pie wedge looked too big to me relative to the top pie wedge.
This is hard, dunno if I got it right but it seems to make sense to me.
