Weight w/o bipod, w/optic 11 lb. 6 oz. W/ a standard weight bbl. and lightened 3rd gen. aluminum scope mount its just over 10 lbs depending on the optics. No rails except for sights. Last 200m groups were between 3 and 4 in. w/ the reddot (15 Jan 10)- Those old Canadian match barrels are very nice, but I haven't really wrung it out for accuracy as its obviously not a match/sniper rifle. The heavy barrel was installed for other reasons and I couldn't find a chrome lined heavy.
Gunner, as stated, recoil is negligible w/ the brake and Enidine buffer. I do know opening the ports up helped, but its been a few years since testing back to back.
If I do another stock, it'll have further changes, but I'm really not ready to jump off that bridge, yet!
It really doesn't go anywhere that the FG-42 hasn't already been, except its a lot more durable and doesn't load from the side.
Oh, one nice thing- It can go back to "as issued" configuration in less than 15 minutes, except for the barrel swap, that adds a little more time if I get "fussy" about it.
Went down the AR10 road for a while, but, unlike the AR15 platform, I was never was altogether satisfied, both from a ruggedness and long range accuracy standpoint. This setup is quite tough, is reasonably accurate, weighs less and handles better than the AR10T I had.

My only question is the stock adapter, what did it start life out as? It doesn't look like it was purposely built for for this.

It started as some aluminum chunks. (The worn green paint doesn't help matters either, I reckon.) In an older set-up the sights actually sat much higher, but it was found that any muzzle rise in the standing position is due to the body movement rather than bore line to shoulder as the centerline of the bore was BELOW center of the stock "tube". So this is a somewhat less radical configuration. Thus, the odd appearance of the adaptor is somewhat due to earlier experiments.
Might do some more detailed pics this weekend if anybody's interested. It won't be any prettier though!
