FTD1167 I agree with you. I have several SG slides including their M2 Slides and all are marked on the outside bottom. I could be wrong, but I believe S'G's were all marked on the inside and SG on the outside.

I am almost sure I have a type III S'G' that is stamped on the bottom. It will take me a few days to get a photo of it.
I asked earlier (above) about my type 3 slide from the CMP and you guys helped me to interpret its markings as S'G' and for that I am grateful. :super: But I just found something researching another item and need some learned opinion here

The pictures aren't great but what do you make of it? It is a type 3 but the inside of the box and its maker's markings look totally different from mine shown above.
The one sold on GB just has smoother milling inside.
Plus the S'G' stamp is turned around.
All good..
Your's was stamped pretty lightly.

OK, thank you charlie. Guess variety must be the spice of life but it sure consumes alot of resources :D
People tend to expect markings to be exactly alike and in the exact same spot. They tend to forget how fast we were throwing our war materiel together and shipping it. Some barrels never got dated. Some parts were stamped funny. Some carbines had parts by the 'wrong' sub-contractors. Some carbines had parts that didn't 'come out' until months later and others had 'old' parts after the new ones had been standardized. You'll drive yourself bananas trying to rationalize 'why' or prove it to be 'correct' or not. Most every carbine has little anomalies like that.
