Brian, any idea if there are any changes to the regulations regarding bringing 7.62x51 calibre firearms into the US, or do the regulation changes only apply to exportation?
Also, we need to leave some L42s in the US - how else will I ever get one??? :)
I've been working on an import of commercial P-H and Fulton 7.62 target rifles for over a year but need to personally go to England and light a REAL fire under the dealers arse who has them because he isn't getting the job done on his end. I guess if it ever happens, we'll know then. Up to right now, it's only affecting exports as far as I know. The L42 export mentioned above was a rifle sold by someone else up in NJ. The buyer hired me to do the export. However, the last few I've sold all went to the UK. All I can tell you is that if one comes up for sale and you want it, buy it. I'm equal opportunity when it comes to sales and I'm glad to send them to anyone who wants one as long as it's in a country we're allowed to deal with under U.S. law.
Thanks, Brian. Looks like I'd better get my butt moving on getting that rifle I want out of the UK and into the US PDQ before they decide to change the import laws too (if they haven't already). All I need to know is if the US government will give me back some of my own, hard-earned money lol.
The rifle you're after is a commercial variant and on the U.S. Curio and Relic list so I don't see a problem. The problem with imports right now is with the military variants like the L39A1 which aren't on the C&R list. I need to make the time, go over to Fort Jackson and get the museum curator to write me the letter I need to petition again. Yes, I've been turned down once already and another importer who's now out of it, (SMART), was also turned down. I've no other excuse except I haven't made the time to do it. I had the No.8Mk.1 and Czech VZ54 sniper rifle added in the past so it is possible if you jump through all the hoops. Another problem is that the same UK dealer has some of those too so even if I go to all the trouble of getting them legitimately added, will he ever get the export in order for me?? It's very frustrating.

Brian I think I asked you this once before but I can’t remember what your answer was. Could you import one of these L39’s directly to Canada without it going through the US? I know the L39 has a reference number on the FRT table so not a problem having one in the country.
Just remember that lovely old John Sukey when he reminded us all that '.............everything was cheap - yesterday' I think he was actually referring to L39's and 42's
No, I can't import firearms to Canada from anywhere except the USA. I'll be glad to tackle the job if you can find one for sale here. They were imported for a number of years before attention was brought to BATFE FTB and they put a stop to it pending proper addition to the C&R list. They are available in England from time to time but popularity is rising there and prices will along with it.
