Hmmm, Let me backup and try this again since my previous comments have been taken a bit out of context of my point....
I have no idea if ALL the required M-2 kit parts are there (I think there are 8 that are unique to the M-2 and not the M-1). I counted several and then stopped looking. There were also several bags containing additional parts in the pictures which appeared to go with this auction.
I made the following observations:
1) that there were a large quantity of carbine parts in this auction lot
2) that visually there were several specific M-2 parts (9-spring, disconnector rod, etc)
3) the description of the parts were not itemized by the seller
4) that the seller stated that he did not have full knowledge of what he was selling
5) all the parts for sale where not visible for inventory and that some parts would be included in the sale that were not seen.
Given these 5 observations, I stated that I would be hesitant to bid on this auction lot because there was a CHANCE that too many M-2 parts may be present. I also stated that anytime you are dealing with a "grab bag" of parts that MAY contain a total of items which may be illegal to buy, then both the seller and the any buyer should consider using an itemized list. It protects both the buyer and the seller from UNKNOWLINGLY committing an illegal act.
Thats all. I did clearly point out that I did not think that the seller or any buyer had any illegal intent. I merely stated that the POTENTIAL for an illegal act to occur - with no malice or forethought on either party's part - was present. All that was needed, in my opinion, was an itemized list - if not in writing, then a clear picture showing ALL items for auction in that lot.
So to answer the question about which "one"?... Hmmm... I think it is the "one" when added to the other 7 equals the entire kit which is required to be a registered kit when possessed by one individual....
Now that I have clarified my statements to (hopefully) everyone's satisfaction, I have a new-to-me carbine broken down on my workbench that is begging to have some cosmoline scraped off...
