Mosin Nagant 91/30M

It occurs to me that as it isn't intended as a 91/30 "sniper" lookalike, that a fwd of the receiver mount and a intermediate to long eye relief scope might not be more practical and "tough". IER scopes can be had in variable power at least up to 8x.

A fwd mount would also possibly allow charger loading, depending on the set up, and would make the bent bolt handle optional. (I'd prefer a straight bolt handle, myself.)

I just don't like the "down adaptor" to use the "up adaptor"/AK mount concept at all! Too much easily bent parts or loss of zero possibilities for anything but a pampered range queen. Those alloy (aluminum or magnesium) brackets don't hold up all that well from what I've seen, as they're common Bubba fodder around these parts.

It seems there's better ways of modernizing the Mosin, but if that's all you've got, well...

The question is what eye relief will work well with this combo, I was told a 2x7x32 Aim works well, but as of know, i didn't want to buy three just to find the one that works well with the Mosin-Nagant. Even with the Iron sites, I could shoot 250 yards and be on the money 1 of three times farthest being 6" left and 1 Dead Center!
Have tryed checking eye to scope, but with-out scope it's near difficult to get good measure. I have 10.5" from eye to guesstimate scope, wanted a scope that will give a bit of eye relief for easy target alignments. Thanks for any feedback! Gary:dunno::surrender: Sorry about the mixed upload?? G
