A little Hornet followed me home...

Actually, many older .22 Hornets (and K-Hornets as well, I suppose) have bores of 0.222-0.223", so, that may not be a problem.

If it IS largish, then .22 Mag, might do for a conversion, but it seems a complete waste of effort at that point!

Besides, it would be easy to swap back, and you would have a bolt assembly. for a dedicated .22 lr that could be done for cheap, if you have a .303 w/ a bad barrel or some such.

Or just do custom reloads as stated above (subsonic loads anyone?), whatever, as long as you shoot the dang thing!

(Can't abbreviate "assembly" for some odd reason....)

I have recently purchased Highland .22 hornet in Auckland & Dargaville. I have a Brno 465 in 22 "K". Reloaders Supplies have projectiles. I'm sure you should be able to buy loaded ammo. The only problem I have had is the odd case splitting on first firing - when fire-forming.

RJW NZ I am interested in what make the scope mounts on your .22H are - they seem very neat and mount the scope reasonably low.

I also own a Lithgow .22H which currently wears a side field scope mount. It places the scope very high above the bore centreline, and also places the scope centreline to the left of the bore centreline. I get around this by canting the scope in the rings to align the reticle vertically above the bore.

You know, I've taken every bodies thoughts on board and I'm agreeing with the idea of reloading the stock caliber, reloading is coming for me anyway, so I may as well not fight it.
The scope mount on mine is a parker hale BA 27 with a low bit of weaver track on top, the ba 27 type I've seen around here on trade me a few times. Its a very cheap and nasty piece of work but it does seem to do the job. Someone has been asking 175$ for one, which is about 150 more than its worth. The rings you see in the pics came from the seller, there's no stamps on them but I've seen them often on cheaper chinese scopes in the last couple of years.They'll be all over trademe I bet, I'll post a free standing pic for you.
What I'm currently using that I really like, are the old style weaver rings. They have a wide flat steel sheet look to them and anchor down with two screws on one side and a slip/out joint on the other. Whats nice, apart from the more classic style which suits the rifle, it that they commonly are still available on ebay and trade me in low med and high. I've got the low ones on and the scope is about 1/4 inch off the weaver track, very low. But they're good rings, cheap and they're all over. I'll put some pics here tomorrow.

No, stock trigger, but there's a few forumers who know the secret. Try a search here for enfield trigger job. Actually I'm a bit of a fan of the military two stage trigger, so I don't pick up any tips on changing it.

Is your name derived from your location? If so, I'm only 15 minutes away up the road.

What are you looking to achieve with your trigger? They can be very finicky to adjust, but it's not impossible by any means.

The previous owner kept the scope shown in the first pics, and I liked the look so much, as well as the wide pro TV look that I hunted down a new scope, I'm very pleased with it.
I've also got an extra bracket on the rifle to mount a green laser and a flashlight so it can better do some duty as an eliminator of some rather determined pest animals on my buddies farm.

The rings in the foreground are the same as now on the rifle, and are old style weavers, they come in different heights, and a nice classic look.

You can see in some pics that the weaver track is just about touching the back of the handguard, it can't get any lower than that I reckon.

Here you go RJW NZ. As you can see someone has welded a strip on the side of the action - perhaps the threads in the original holes to match the side mount were stripped. More than likley why my sccope now mounts offest to the bore centreline.

I like your mount set-up - I was thinking of drilling and tapping the flat on the top of the barrel shank, and screw on some sort of weaver rail. This would eliminate the offset problem, and would probably allow lower scope mounting.

The other option is to fashion up a custom side mount out of angle iron or similar.

The barrel is in fairly poor condition with no rifling for the first few inches ahead of the chamber so wouldn't be spoiling a collector. It still shows glimpses of potential however, shooting Remington factory HPs into around 1.5" at 100m.

I also need to do a bit of work to get rounds to feed properly from the magazine. At the moment they tend to drive into the base of the barrel below the chamber.

Take the plate and spring out of the mag rotate half turn replace. If this does not work perfectly try plate and spring in different combos till it does.
All my Field mounts sit and work well. No1 and No4 actions.

RJW and Branxhunter and anyone else that's interested, here's a link to a long discussion a while back on gunboards about the Lithgow Slazenger Mod 24. Quite a lot of good information came to light during the thread, especially concerning production dates and magazine differences.
